A Holiday Favorite .. Tom and Jerry
This recipe makes .. enough for a party!
Batter Ingredients:
6 eggs
1/4 teaspoon powered cloves
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
3/4 pounds of powdered sugar
fresh nutmeg for grating
To spike your drink:
1/3 cup brandy
1/3 light rum
1/3 dark rum
Directions:
Separate egg whites from yolks and set aside the yolks. In a medium bowl, whip egg whites until firm and set aside. In a large bowl, beat egg yolks. Add cloves, nutmeg and cinnamon and blend well. Beat in as much powdered sugar as possible until your mixture is almost too stiff to beat. Fold in the beaten egg whites until well combined. Combine the three spirits in a carafe. Heat some full fat milk on the stove until scalding hot. Spoon about two tablespoons of batter into a mug. Add about an ounce of the spirit mixture then pour the scalding milk over the batter and stir well. Garnish with freshly grated nutmeg. Here's to a better 2021.

A Tom and Jerry is a traditional Christmastime cocktail in the United States devised by British journalist Pierce Egan in the 1820s. It is a varient of eggnog with brandy and rum added and served hot, usually in a mug or a bowl using a ladle to serve your guests.
Tom and Jerry was a favorite of President Warren G. Harding who served it at an annual Christmas party for his closest friends. The drink features prominiently in Damon Runyon's 1932 short story Dancing Dan's Christmas.
