Boogie Wonder Band is the most disco-loving band in all the land! Boogie Wonder Band IS party central! Boogie Wonder Band gets crowds into music like few others can!
If you have never seen Boogie Wonder Band, live and in person .. you are in for a disco concert .. the likes of no other!
After first experiencing BWB on the floating stage in Bemus Point many years ago I spoke only 3 words to Dan ..."Bring Them Back"!
He did so numerous times in Bemus Point and now, again, in Mayville allowing the disco era to continue at the Pop!
We haven't seen BWB on our lake since 2019 so please give these very talented singers and musicians from Montreal, Canada a big Mayville welcome this Saturday, July 31 @ 8:00. Let's close out the month of July in .. disco style!

When Dan Dalpra took to the floating stage to greet everyone and to introduce the band the audience stood and applauded his dedicated efforts, for all of us, in finally bringing a 2021 season to the floating stage despite the unwarranted obstacles.
I wish to thank everyone for coming out on Saturday evening to show your support and Passion for the Pops. This includes the food vendors and the dedicated and much appreciated volunteers. They all undertand the importance of a Pops program to any community and so should everyone.

The popular Northeast Akron, Ohio-based E5C4P3 — The Journey Tribute band — Jason Kelty (vocals), Steve Raz (guitar, vocals), Erney Chaney (keyboards), Paul Soos (bass guitar, vocals) and Michael Scott Nelson (drums, vocals) in an average, non-pandemic year performs roughly 50 shows around the Midwest.
The scarab beetle seen above is a symbol of the Egyptian God, Khepri, who in turn is a symbol of rebirth, the sun and creation.
E5C4P3 was formed in June of 1993. From that year through 1999 E5C4P3 traveled nationwide and paid tribute to one of rock history's most beloved bands performing for tens of thousands of fans. E5C4P3 is still known today as the original and the best Journey tribute band to ever exist. In 1999, E5C4P3 went on hiatus and the world was suddenly filled with multiple Journey tributes to fill the void that E5C4P3 left behind. In 2008, E5C4P3 was re-formed to recreate the magic of a Journey concert like no one else can. The band covers the music with a note-for-note accuracy that is second to none and performs each show with the high-energy excitement of a real Journey concert as well as visually recreating the essence of early 80's Journey! Focusing on the 'Steve Perry era', E5C4P3 covers all the hits from Lights and Wheel in The Sky to Separate Ways and Be Good to Yourself including occasional surprises for all the die-hard Journey fans.

Richard Augustus Wagstaff Clark, Jr. was an American radio and television personality, television producer and film actor as well as a cultural icon who remains best known for hosting American Bandstand from 1957 to 1989. He was born November 30, 1929 in Mount Vernon NY and died on April 18, 2012 at the age of 82 in Santa Monica CA.
American Bandstand helped advanced the careers of countless artists which included singers such as Paul Anka, Barry Manilow and Madonna. Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve, the long-running special broadcast that aired on December 31 each year began in 1972.
Clark created numerous other shows over the years such as The $25,000 Pyramid, TV's Bloopers and Practical Jokes.
Born the son of a sales manager for radio stations Clark eventually decided he wanted to pursue a career in radio in his early teens. While in high school, he suffered a great personal loss. His older brother Bradley was killed in World War II. As the war ended, he began his career in show business. The teenager landed a job in the mailroom of radio station WRUN in 1945. Located in Utica, New York, the station was owned by his uncle and managed by this father. The young Clark was soon promoted to weatherman and news announcer.
After graduating from A.B. Davis High School in 1947, Clark went to Syracuse University. There he majored in business administration and landed a part-time job as a disc jockey at the student-radio station on campus. He also worked at radio and television stations in Syracuse and Utica before moving to WFIL radio in Philadelphia in 1952.
WFIL had an affiliated television station (now WPVI) which began broadcasting a show called Bob Horn's Bandstand in 1952. Clark was a regular substitute host on the popular afternoon program which had teenagers dancing to popular music. When Horn left the show, Clark became the full-time host on July 9, 1956. Editor's note: This would have been 5 days prior to my 10th birthday so I truly grew up with American Bandstand after school each afternoon. Through Teen magazine I came to feel like I actually knew many of the dancers such as dance partners, Kenny Rossi and Arlene Sullivan; Pat Molittieri and another popular dance couple, Bob and Justine (Bob Clayton and Justine Carrelli). At the time, Bob was 16 and Justine was 13. To this day, Kenny and Arlene remain close friends.
Some of the dancers in 1992 had a 40th reunion. "We danced and it was like we had never stopped", says Clayton, 70 at the time, owned a gift boutique in Delaware. Carrelli, 68 at the time, sold real estate in Arizona.
Largely through Clark's initiative, Bandstand was picked up by ABC as American Bandstand for nationwide distribution beginning on August 5, 1957. The program's mix of lip-synched performances, interviews and its famous "Rate-a-Record" segment captivated teenagers with these often repeated comments .. "I liked the beat and it was easy to dance to". Overnight, Clark became one of pop music's most important tastemakers. His exposure on American Bandstand generated countless hits.
Clark required a formal dress code of dresses or skirts for girls and coats and ties for boys that helped establish the show's wholesome appearance. The move was an early indication of Clark's innate ability to read the public's mindset and mute potential criticism. Eventually the show moved from Philly to Los Angeles, the center of the entertainment industry allowing Clark to diversify his involvement in television production.
Among the many award programs the company produced was the American Music Awards which Clark created as a rival to the Grammy Awards. The special has often surpassed viewership of the Grammys, presumably because it presents performers more closely attuned to young audiences' tastes. Clark's production company also produced a number of movies and made-for-TV movies which included Elvis (1979), Birth of the Beatles (1979), Elvis and the Colonel: The Untold Story (1993), and Copacabana in 1985.
In 1972, Clark produced and hosted Dick Clark's New Year's Rockin' Eve. Clark made his last apearance on the annual event on its New Year's Eve 2012 program which was celebrating its 40th anniversary that night. Around this time, he spoke with the Los Angeles Times about the show. Clark noted that two of the most memorable moments for him were the millennium broadcast and Jennifer Lopez's performance in 2009.

While Clark's behind-the-scenes business acumen had much to do with the fortune he amassed, he was better known for the charming on-air personality and ageless looks that allowed him to remain one of television's most popular hosts and pitchmen, even long after American Bandstand went off the air. During this time the show became a national sensation!
For more than five decades, Dick Clark shaped the viewing and listening habits of music fans. A true pioneer in both music and television, he will be remembered for his lasting impact on popular culture.
Clark ended most appearances with the catchphrase, "For now, Dick Clark .. so long," punctuating the line with a military salute.
I hope you have enjoyed this music-inspired Bandstand trip down memory lane as much as I have enjoyed reminiscing about music being the soundtrack of our lives. For the 20 years the Pops was in Bemus Point, it became the continuing soundtrack of my life.
Btw, guess who holds the record for the most American Bandstand appearances at 110?

The Importance of Music in Our Lives
Art and music are basic human functions. Humankind and art cannot function without one another. We have the burning desire to create, whatever it may be and however tiny or grand. The interaction with sound is unavoidable, either to make it or take pleasure in hearing it. People have always found music significant in their lives whether for enjoyment in listening, in performing or in creating.
The most common way one becomes involved with music is through listening or attending a music event, particularly, this summer. Attending a concert is unique as it offers the excitement of hearing live musicans. Music is not only pleasing to the ears and mind, but also nurturing to the soul.
The role of the arts and music in our society fill a void that we all need in order to enrich ourselves and to, in turn, enrich our culture.

Some of the delay with OGS might relate to the pending lawsuit brought by two out-of-town seasonal residents from Dewittville (Thomas & Marina Arko, William Kinney) and a former Mayville Village Trustee (Sharon Smead) who lost her re-election a few years ago. The lawsuit seeks to shut down the entire concert series.

In 2019, the Chautauqua Lake Pops brought music and movies to a new location on the lake. That location was Mayville, New York. The slogan was .. Make It Mayville.
When Dan Dalpra and his wife, Sue sold the Italian Fisherman in Bemus Point in 2017 they had no intention of giving up the floating stage that had hosted live music every summer for 20 amazing years. At that time they just hadn't quite worked out where it might be re-located on the lake.
"Then Mayville stepped forward" said Dan. The town that sits on the North end of the lake wanted to use the stage for a summer concert series. "They had this magnificent waterfront. It's a perfect spot to get re-established. It will be a major stimulation to the community itself."
The stage will float behind the historic train depot offering space for hundreds more to enjoy the concerts then the previous location. Dalpra said he has 26 live tribute acts lined up to perform. There are also six free movie nights sprinkled throughout the concert season.

Ground-Breaking Ceremony for The Lodge in Mayville
At noon, June 30 the Village of Mayville witnessed the Webb family, elected officials and business partners participate in the ceremonial gold shovel ground-breaking to officially make way for The Lodge being built at 74 Water Street by the Webb family.
Dan Dalpra, good friend of the late Jim Webb, gives a thumbs up to the project as Sally Webb, Amy Webb, Ben Webb and their children Teagan and Cord Webb take part in this special moment for the family, for the community and for the region.
The development will include 54 luxury condominiums with construction scheduled to be completed by late Spring 2022.
Congratulations to all involved with The Lodge project being built near the historic train depot and the Chautauqua Lake Pops location. Jim Webb and the entire Webb family have been strong supporters of the Pops through the years and especially since its relocation to Mayville in 2019.
