Aerial of the Bemus Bay Pops
I recall the Pops in Bemus Point as it being a great time to relax outdoors with friends, or alone. I could ride my bicycle down to the lake and listen to the performers on the floating stage. One could arrive in casual dress, enjoy food and beverages while listening to the best entertainment one could experience in the area!
So many of us gathered on warm sunny days or cool summer nights to mingle with others to hear a soloist, a group of talented musicians or watch a movie on Tuesday nights. The Pops concerts drew people from throughout the county, outside the county and out of State to Bemus to enjoy the shops, restaurants, the Lawson Boat Museum and the Lenhart Hotel. Bemus was a village with hospitality introducing visitors to their lovely community where many would visit, again, to enjoy the community and other Pops concerts with its sunsets as a beautiful backdrop!
Bemus had a calm, content and scenic atmosphere to enjoy musical programs. Music was then and still is .. one of the essentials of life!
I would truly love to see that wholesome, professional atmosphere return to Bemus Point for all to support and to enjoy!
By doing so, it would truly .. bring the arts to the people .. as it did for 20 years!
After the last 2 plus years of staying home, it would be a welcome sight!
There are many more thoughts I could express of how wonderful it was in Bemus. So many took it for granted until it was gone! Sadly, this happens with things that are worthwhile. The Bemus Bay Pops was truly an asset to Bemus!
The Pops always made one feel better!
