The ancient Babylonians are said to have been the first people to make New Year's resolutions some 4,000 years ago. They were also the first to hold recorded celebrations in honor of the new year though for them the year began not in January, but in mid-March when crops were planted.
A New Year's resolution is a tradition most common in the Western Hemisphere, but also found in the Eastern Hemisphere in which a person resolves to continue good practices, change an undesired trait or behavior to accomplish a personal goal or otherwise improve their life.
With the New Year we all think about making resolutions though most of us seldom keep them.
If you are thinking about taking on a New Year's resolution(s), remember Rome wasn't built in a day. I have read that it is best to start small and focus on one goal at a time because the best resolutions are the ones you can actually keep!
If you are successful regarding one or more resolutions, congratulations.
If you are not successful, don't be too hard on yourself.
Happy New Year!
